Porsche Builds 100 GT3 Bergsport for Four Alpine Markets Only

One hundred cars, four countries, one paint colour mixed for the occasion. Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur revealed the GT3 Bergsport on 1 September 2026, a market edition sold only in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. Buyers elsewhere are out of luck.

The starting point is the current 911 GT3 with Touring Package, the version that drops the fixed rear wing for a retractable spoiler. That choice signals intent. Porsche adds the Lightweight Package and a six-speed manual gearbox, which pushes the car towards mechanical feel and road-surface feedback rather than lap times.

A specification detail is worth flagging. On this edition the Lightweight Package comes with aluminium wheels instead of the magnesium wheels normally included. The forged rims are finished in satin White Gold and Ceramica, framing bright orange brake callipers. Porsche traces the colour back to alpenglow, the low light that sets Alpine summits burning at dawn and dusk.

Two further items round out the build: a front axle lift system, useful on steep ramps and broken surfaces, and the 90-litre fuel tank that stretches touring range between mountain fuel stops. On a car of this type the second option matters more in daily use than most of the cosmetic work.

A colour built around the mountains

The exterior paint is called Valleygreenmetallic, developed through the Paint to Sample Plus programme. It blends the deep greens and earthy browns of the massifs, with gold metallic particles that Porsche compares to fresh snow under high-altitude sun.

The HD-Matrix LED headlights are tinted. The front luggage compartment lid carries a chequered flag motif borrowed from the 908 Bergspyder, the late-1960s hillclimb racer. A B-pillar badge reads ‘GT3 Bergsport’ with a Ceramica border and raised White Gold lettering on high-gloss black. The engine compartment cover gets a larger circular emblem: four summits for the four Alpine countries, a serpentine road, a mountain backdrop. A special issue of Curves Magazine, limited to 1,000 copies, accompanies the launch.

Short, tightly territorial series are becoming a habit at Zuffenhausen. Three weeks before the Bergsport, Porsche launched another 100-car market edition, the 911 GT3 100 Jahre Nürburgring, restricted to Germany. Same mechanical base, different geography, same allocation logic.

The cabin follows the same thread

Valleygreen carries over as a bespoke leather colour on the folding carbon-fibre bucket seats included with the Lightweight Package. The rear seat system stays, which was not a given on a car pitched this way. Orange contrast stitching and embroidered ‘GT3’ lettering on the headrests continue the alpenglow theme, along with accents on the rotary start switch, the accelerator pedal, the twelve-o’clock steering wheel marking, the manual gearshift pattern and the Sport Chrono Package with its Porsche Design GT clock.

On the door panels and the upper dashboard, alternating black and white cross-stitch thread draws stylised mountain-peak silhouettes. The Light Design Package and a Bose Surround Sound system complete the interior. The edition badge appears on the rear lid grille and is embossed on the leather centre console lid. Key, key pouch and document wallet are matched to the same palette. This is the kind of work Exclusive Manufaktur has built its reputation on, in the same register as the recent Flachbau RS one-off, though on a very different scale.

A hillclimb for the public debut

Porsche chose Arosa ClassicCar in Switzerland for the world premiere on 4 September 2026. Brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister drove the car up the 7.3-kilometre course, 76 corners and 422 metres of elevation gain. The historical link holds up: Alpine passes were the proving ground for the first Porsche sports cars built at Gmünd in Austria, and the company raced in hillclimbs long before endurance racing became its signature discipline. French readers can find more background in our article on the history of the 911 GT3 (in French).

A Porsche Lifestyle collection accompanies the series: 1:43 and 1:18 scale models, caps, thermal travel mugs, crest key rings and hoodies. GT3 Bergsport skis, made by Austrian manufacturer HEAD, are announced for the 2027/2028 winter season.

The press release gives no price, no order opening date and no delivery schedule. For a run of one hundred cars split across four markets, allocation will almost certainly be settled between dealers and known customers before anything reaches a public order book. Porsche also notes that nearly every 911 buyer worldwide selects at least one Exclusive Manufaktur option, with around 300 options in the configurator and more than 230 additional Paint to Sample colours across the range.
